Having overcome glandular fever and responded to the blow of missing her home Olympics by winning two silver medals at Rio 2016, Jazz Carlin is clearly a champion at beating adversity. But the Welsh swimmer admits the physical and emotional exertion of her Olympic exploits in Brazil left her “drained” and “numb”, and feeling as if she “didn’t have much of a purpose”.
